Big Day!!

Today is always an exciting day on our trips! We call these days BIG DAY! This day we invite the community to the school property for a day of fun, tournaments, food, and most importantly to hear the Gospel!

A few team members will share about our day below…

“Jambo! Today was a very chill and fun day. It was our “big day” at crossroads academy in Vipingo. We got to sleep in and left at 10:30 when we got to the school we met with a mission trip out of Annapolis, MD. We got to play, dance and just have fun with all the kids and everyone in the community. There was camel rides, I was a little scared but it was a fun first time experience! There was a big futbol match in the field. There was also face painting, volleyball a big DJ party and tattoos. There was so much joy, gospel and community in the day and that really touched my heart. We left around 6 and headed back to the hotel.” ~ Thomas

“The day was great at Vipingo! There were lots of games happening like futbol (soccer) and Volleyball. All the students were having fun with the activities and made sure their families could come and see. Some of the teachers from the Bomani School came to enjoy the commotion before they get to experience it at their school. The students also could get candy, they got balloon animals, got their faces or nails painted and overall, everyone had a great day.” ~ Aurora

“Today started out at a nice leisurely pace. We all slept in and after breakfast most of us went for a walk on the beach. It was our first time going down by the water. Most of us put our feet into the Indian Ocean. Add another check to my bucket list!

We loaded up and headed to Crossroads Academy in Vipingo for our Big Community Day. There was so much to do- volleyball, soccer tournament, music, dancing, camel rides and hanging out with friends & family.

My favorite part of the day was the way God used me to connect people. I was approached by several different Crossroads students & staff that were looking for people from our team. I got to witness these new found friendships flourish right before my eyes.  One young girl was looking for Catie. She had put together a small gift she wanted Catie to have. Another group of girls were looking for Paige. They spent time talking and dancing together- it was amazing to witness!  A staff member reached out looking to reconnect with Anna. They had been chatting it up for hours the other day.

After spending a great deal of time together- one young girl said her “goodbyes” to Megan, thru me. It was time for her to go home, but she could not find Megan. Oh, and I cannot forget about my new friend Omar. He finds me in the crowd every time we are at his school. We hung out and rode the camel together!

There was absolute pure joy on everyone’s faces throughout the entire day.  I am truly blessed to have been an instrument in these relationships today.

I can’t wait to do it again tomorrow!!”
